MENTAL HEALTH

More than 300 MILLION people suffer from depression globally.‘Work’ can be a major contributing factor to a decline in Mental Health. There has been a massive rise in mental-health-related ‘presenteeism’, where people work when they are not at their most productive.Enabled by technology, the modern ‘always-on’ culture negatively impacts our mental health. While an increased use of technology can enhance our working practices, having the ability to work outside (and in excess of) normal working hours can add to the challenge of maintaining good mental health, and make it hard for some people to ‘Switch Off’.Young people are the most vulnerable demographic. They are less likely to disclose mental health problems to anyone else and more likely to work through their holidays instead of taking days off.If you ever feel you’re struggling with your mental health, remember that it is COMMON, and no different to feeling physically unwell. It can happen to anyone, at any time and is NOT in any way a sign of weakness - so don’t keep quiet.Talking with someone is the first step and helps massively.Together, we are HIVE.
